Spring hacks: refresh your home for under £50

With Easter 2017 set to rival Christmas as one of the biggest family occasions of the year, John Lewis is offering its customers up and down the country masterclasses in how to refresh their homes for under £50.

The complimentary masterclasses will be hosted in 46 of the department store’s shops from Exeter to Aberdeen, will run daily throughout the Easter weekend (Friday 14th April, Saturday 15th April and Monday 17th April). Hosted by John Lewis’s expert Home Design Stylists, the classes offer quick, easy and affordable hacks for customers to give their homes a new lease of life in time for the arrival of Easter.

Top tips for refreshing your home ahead of the Easter weekend include:

●     Create a feature wall - choose a brightly coloured or patterned wallpaper to make a chimney breast or alcove pop. If you’re feeling particularly brave, you could even use two contrasting prints on different walls for a bold and on-trend look.

●     Add new textures - contrasting textures will add fresh interest to a space. Consider seagrass baskets and bamboo lanterns, which will sit in contrast to shaggy rugs and smart copper accessories.

●     Swap window curtains for lightweight voile - with longer evenings drawing in, make the most of the extra sunlight with an ombre voile panel. As well as adding a welcome pop of colour, the panel is quick and easy to alternate between seasons and creates

Add small pieces of furniture - small items of furniture can be a fun and inexpensive way to change the overall feel of your space. Side tables and foot stalls are great options, and consider pieces that offer that Spring-like pop of colour for maximum impact.

We often find that customers are looking for quick wins around this time of year, so we hope that these masterclasses will help customers to inject a bit of interest into their homes without taking too much time or investment.”

In addition, John Lewis Oxford Street will be hosting a further series of masterclasses in association with some of its best loved homewares brands, including lessons in upholstery with Parker Knoll, and wallpapering classes by Scion, between 30th March and 16th April.

For customers feeling inspired by these masterclasses but wanting a more detailed rework of their interior scheme, all shops will be offering customers complimentary one-on-one style appointments at the Home Design Studio,  as well as the opportunity to book a bespoke design consultation. As part of a consultation session, a specialist Home Design Stylist will visit your home for a two hour appointment  to understand your requirements and create a complete design scheme for multiple rooms in your home.  The fee of £250 is redeemable when you spend over £1500 through the service.
